The Federal Inland Revenue Service has denied allegations by the Federal Capital Territory Administration that it defaulted on ground rent payments for 25 years.
Reacting to the sealing of its office in Zone 5, Abuja, the FIRS stated it has fully paid its dues up to 2023 and holds proof of payment. The agency also revealed it has been requesting an official receipt from the FCTA since February 19, 2024, without response.
Calling the action unjustified, FIRS urged the FCTA to update its records. The incident comes amid a sweeping enforcement campaign that has already seen plans to revoke nearly 4,800 properties over unpaid rent.
