What began as a routine movie shoot spiralled into real-life horror when Nollywood actor Godwin Nnadiekwe was brutally kicked in the chest by fellow actor Zubby Michael during an unscripted and unauthorised on-set altercation.
The incident, captured on video and shared on social media Saturday, shows the shocking moment Zubby Michael leapt over a barricade and forcefully attacked Nnadiekwe before fleeing into a nearby building.
The violent act was not part of the film’s script and had not been approved by the director.
“During a scene, I received a kick to the chest from my colleague that wasn’t part of the script or directed by the director,” Nnadiekwe explained.
The unexpected blow left the actor in excruciating pain, leading to internal bleeding that demanded immediate and costly medical attention. To his dismay, the production team offered no support, leaving him to foot the medical bills alone.
His management later issued a statement confirming the gravity of the situation. “We regret to inform you that Actor Godwin Nnadiekwe was rushed to the hospital this evening,” the statement read. “He is undergoing treatment for internal bleeding caused by a chest injury sustained during a film shoot with Zubby Michael.”
Nnadiekwe has since called for tighter safety protocols in Nollywood, stressing the importance of planned and supervised physical scenes to avoid future tragedies.
