Ahmadu Bello University has thrown its weight behind the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative, with the Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Sahalu Junaid, describing it as a welcome boost for students and staff across the university’s vast campuses.
Speaking after a campus sensitization event by the CNG-Sprout Program, Professor Junaid said the students’ excitement showed strong support for the initiative.
“Yes, the project, the presidential initiative on CNG, there was sensitization this morning for Abu students. I attended, and many of my staff have attended, and it is well received by the students,” he said.
The Dean highlighted the transportation challenges posed by ABU’s multiple campuses and expressed optimism that the provision of CNG-powered tricycles and buses would ease movement, cut costs, and enhance learning.
“Because, you know, we have about four campuses… and across all these campuses, it is a long distance,” he explained.
Junaid noted the praise from the Student Representative Council president, who said the initiative would save time and improve academic outcomes.
He also welcomed plans to commission the CNG facility next week and pledged effective use of the resources.
“We tell you, we assure you… we will manage these resources judiciously,” he stated.
The university community is now preparing for the official commissioning, with management expressing gratitude to the President and stakeholders behind the initiative.
