A brief service disruption on social platform X over the weekend has triggered Elon Musk to reaffirm his hands-on leadership across his core companies.
The two-hour outage on Saturday led Musk, the platform’s owner, to acknowledge infrastructure lapses and pledge a deeper operational focus.
“The failover redundancy should have worked, but did not,” he admitted in a series of posts on X, citing the need for immediate system improvements.
By 11:00 a.m. Saturday (1500 GMT), the platform was back online, but the incident reignited questions about Musk’s capacity to manage multiple high-stakes ventures-Tesla, SpaceX, and xAI among them.
Admitting he’s been stretched thin, Musk vowed to recommit himself fully, saying he will spend “24/7 at work and sleep in conference/server/factory rooms” to ensure better execution and reliability.
This renewed urgency comes at a sensitive time. Tesla shares have dipped amid criticism of Musk’s aggressive government downsizing plan through his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which he recently admitted fell short of expectations.
Meanwhile, SpaceX is gearing up for a crucial test launch of its Starship rocket next week, following two failed attempts. With major rollouts also expected from X and xAI, Musk’s intensified focus could mark a pivotal shift in strategy and leadership across his empire.
Attempts to reach X for comment were unsuccessful.
