Former Russia international Vladimir Granat has voiced his disappointment over the absence of Nigeria’s star forward Victor Osimhen in the upcoming friendly between the Super Eagles and Russia.

Osimhen, fresh off a triumphant season with Galatasaray where he powered the club to both the Turkish Cup and Super Lig titles, will miss the anticipated clash.

Speaking with Sports Express, Granat admitted he was eager to see the Napoli-linked striker in action, alongside other top Nigerian talents.

He praised Nigeria as one of the strongest sides in recent times and anticipated a thrilling contest.

“It is a pity,” Granat said, reacting to Osimhen’s absence. “Top players like him bring something extra. With Osimhen, it would have been a true test at world football level.”

Despite the striker’s absence, Granat believes Nigeria will still deliver an impressive performance, as both nations aim to gain tactical edge and build momentum ahead of future tournaments.
