Barely five months after resuming operations, the Port Harcourt Refinery has been shut down once more, this time for what officials call a routine maintenance check.
In a statement issued on Saturday, May twenty four, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited confirmed the development, describing it as a scheduled sustainability exercise.
NNPC spokesperson Olufemi Soneye said the shutdown would be carried out in partnership with regulatory agencies, including the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, to ensure transparency and efficiency throughout the process.
“NNPC Ltd remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering sustainable energy security for Nigeria.
“Further updates will be provided regularly through our official channels, including our website, media platforms, and public statements,” Soneye stated.
The company assured the public that adequate measures are in place to manage operations during the temporary halt.
