The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed the invasion of Efab Global Estate in the Idu Industrial Area of Abuja by suspected armed robbers in the early hours of Wednesday, May 21, 2025.

The attackers, reportedly numbering over 20, left at least five security guards injured and robbed several homes within the estate.

Eyewitnesses said the gunmen stormed the estate around midnight in a coordinated attack, shooting sporadically to cause panic.

Confirming the incident, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said an investigation had already commenced to track and apprehend the perpetrators.

According to Adeh, “During the incident, the assailants tied up two security personnel and inflicted injuries on one, who was immediately rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), for medical attention and is currently in stable condition.”

She added that the robbers made away with laptops, mobile phones, and other valuables belonging to residents.

Upon receiving the distress call, Adeh said the Area Commander Life Camp, ACP Harrison Oruruo, swiftly led a tactical team to the scene.

However, the suspects had already fled the area before the police arrived.

In a statement released Friday, the FCT Police Command addressed what it described as misleading reports in the public domain.

“The FCT Police Command wishes to address and clarify a recent incident that has generated concern within the public domain, particularly regarding misleading reports suggesting that over 40 hoodlums invaded Efab Global Estate, Idu, injuring five security guards as Police delay response.

The report indicated that some armed robbers had gained unauthorised entry into the estate through the rear perimeter fence,” the statement read.

Adeh also noted that security measures around the estate have been reinforced in collaboration with vigilante groups and community stakeholders to prevent future incidents.

She further disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ajao Adewale, has urged residents and estate management committees to carry out thorough vetting and profiling of private security personnel and domestic staff.
