The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has said that the sit-at-home order by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is no longer as effective as before.
Speaking at the APC National Summit in Abuja, Ribadu said security has greatly improved in the South-East, and many key members of IPOB and its armed wing, Eastern Security Network (ESN), have been captured or neutralised.
“The ‘sit-at-home’ orders are becoming more and more ineffective,” he said, adding that attacks on security personnel have dropped.
He noted that over 50 police stations and posts have been rebuilt, with normal life gradually returning to the region.
Ribadu also gave a general security update under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
He mentioned that over 13,000 Boko Haram fighters have been neutralised, while over 124,000 fighters and their families have surrendered.
In the North-West, 11,250 hostages were rescued and top bandit leaders have been eliminated.
“Key IPOB/ESN figures captured or neutralised. Over 50 police stations and many police posts have been rebuilt.
“Attacks on security forces significantly reduced. Social and economic activities are normalising,” Ribadu said.
