Multi-award winning rapper and YBNL Nation boss Olamide has been recognised for his feats as a label boss.
On May 21, Billboard, as part of their annual list of executives shaping the music industry outside the United States, announced Olamide as one of its Global Power Players for 2025.
This is a testament to his significant impact as a label executive. The prestigious honor celebrates his instrumental role in guiding Nigerian music superstars Asake and Fireboy DML to international acclaim. Asake’s third album Lungu Boy was crowned the biggest album in Nigeria in 2024 by TurnTable Charts, while Fireboy DML’s fourth album Adedamola gained widespread praise as one of the most acclaimed projects of the year.
Speaking to Billboard, Olamide shared, “YBNL Nation has made significant strides in expanding our global footprint and solidifying our presence in key international markets.
Collaborations with international artists and producers have helped bridge the gap between Afrobeats and other genres. further establishing our label as a key player in the global music scene.”
The honor solidifies YBNL’s position as one of Africa’s most impactful record labels shaping the global music landscape.
