Over 4,000 young women from low-income households across Delta State have been trained and empowered in just six months through a government-led initiative.

The State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services and Girl-Child Development, Orode Uduaghan, revealed this during a briefing, stating that the training was executed in partnership with the Enterprise Development Centre and MasterCard Foundation.

She disclosed that 1,500 participants who completed the Enterprise Development Centre’s goal-plan-test programme received N150,000 each as business support from the Delta State Government.

“Those who didn’t pass the test still benefited from other incentives like free website and logo design,” she said.

According to the commissioner, the EDC continues to work with the entrepreneurs through mentorship, business registration assistance, product exhibitions, and market linkage support.

The empowerment programme, she said, showcases the Oborevwori administration’s commitment to uplifting the vulnerable, describing the project as a landmark stride in Delta’s drive for inclusive economic growth.
