Tension erupted at the National Assembly as officers of the FCT Police Command fired teargas and canisters to disperse protesting natives of the Federal Capital Territory, leaving at least four persons reportedly injured.
The protesters, under the banner of the FCT Youth Stakeholders Forum, were demanding the removal of Mr Solomon Adodo, a Benue State indigene, from the board of the newly established North Central Development Commission.
They insisted that only a native of the FCT should occupy the board slot, warning against what they described as systemic exclusion of Abuja indigenes.
