Angry staff of the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority on Tuesday stormed the Ministry of Finance in Abuja, demanding payment of withheld allowances and improved welfare.

Led by the Trade Union Congress and members of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association, the protesters accused Minister Wale Edun of ignoring appeals to release their internally generated revenue, which they said has been held back for over fifteen months.

Clad in red and chanting slogans, the demonstrators blocked the ministry’s gates, disrupting entry and traffic flow.

Patrick Solomon, the Industrial Relations Officer of the NNRA, said the prolonged delay has crippled their operations and demoralized the workforce.

The protesters vowed not to back down until the government meets their demands.
