The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has clarified that the temporary lift on the ban of sachet alcohol is not a reversal but a grace period, which ends on December thirty first, twenty twenty five.
Director of the agency, Kenneth Azikiwe, explained that the suspension was designed to give manufacturers time to adjust and collaborate with regulators ahead of a complete phase out of alcoholic products in sachets and bottles below two hundred millilitres.
According to NAFDAC, the full enforcement of the ban will commence from January first, twenty twenty six.
The agency has embarked on a nationwide awareness campaign, reaching all thirty six states to educate citizens about the dangers of underage drinking.
It has mandated that all alcoholic products carry clear warnings against sale to minors.
NAFDAC also commended the Distillers and Beverages Association of Nigeria for backing its public enlightenment drive, stressing that the regulation aims to safeguard public health and promote responsible alcohol consumption.
