The Federal Government has taken ownership of seven hundred and fifty three luxury homes in Abuja recovered from a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Olanipekun Olukoyede, officially handed over the duplexes and apartments to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development on Tuesday.
Housing Minister Ahmed Dangiwa said the properties, located in a prime district of the capital, were forfeited under the directive of President Bola Tinubu to convert seized assets into public gain.
Dangiwa announced plans to assess the buildings’ structural safety, complete access roads and drainage, and adopt a unified design before rolling out the estate for public use.
He stressed that the handover reflects the government’s resolve to fight corruption and turn recovered assets into meaningful development for the people.
