The first group of intending pilgrims from the Federal Capital Territory who arrived in Madinah on Saturday have embarked on a spiritual tour of some of Islam’s most revered historical landmarks.
According to Ahmad Saleh, Chief Information Officer of the FCT Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, the pilgrims visited the iconic Mount Uhud — the site of the historic battle where Prophet Muhammad led his followers against opposition forces from Mecca just two years after the Hijrah.
They also paid homage at the revered Qubah Mosque, the first mosque built in Islam, located in the outskirts of the city.
The spiritual journey concluded with a reflective stop at the ancient Baqi Cemetery, the final resting place of many of the Prophet’s companions, family members and early followers.
The graveyard has served the Muslim community for over 1,440 years.
The sacred visits marked a significant beginning for the pilgrims as they prepared for the main rites of Hajj.
