An Ebonyi State High Court has sentenced four men to death for the brutal killing of 26-year-old businessman Chinonso Elon.

Justice Esther Otah delivered the ruling, convicting Anthony Elom, Chibueze Onwe, Chukwuemeka Ugadu, and Uchenna Odono for conspiracy and murder after a chilling attack that stunned the Okwo Ngbo Main Market community.

According to the prosecution, the men stormed Elon’s business area on February 6, 2023, in a marked Sienna van, searching for his younger brother.

When Elon failed to produce him, they dragged him toward the vehicle.

After resisting, he was shot in the head with a shotgun and died instantly.

The judge ruled that the prosecution had proven its case beyond doubt, citing ballistic evidence linking the weapon to the crime scene.

Prosecutor Oluchi Ibiam welcomed the verdict as justice served, while defense lawyer Chinedu Uwa vowed to challenge the decision at the appellate court.
