Real Salt Lake has landed Nigerian striker William Agada from Sporting Kansas City in a bold move to revive their faltering attack this season.
The 25-year-old forward, who struck 10 goals for a struggling Kansas City side last year, brings proven Major League Soccer experience to a team desperate for firepower.
With seven losses from their first 11 games and just 12 goals to show, the Utah club is banking on Agada to reignite their frontline.
Club Chief Soccer Officer Kurt Schmid hailed the acquisition, noting Agada’s instinctive runs, sharp positioning and knack for scoring crucial goals. “Willy brings aggression, versatility and consistent output in the final third,” he said.
Before arriving in MLS, Agada built a solid reputation in Israel with Hapoel Jerusalem and Hapoel Haifa, where he spent five seasons terrorizing defences.
His arrival follows the departure of top scorer Cristian Arango, who now leads the league’s goal chart with San Jose Earthquakes.
Salt Lake also added Johnny Russell from Kansas City to boost attacking depth.
Coach Pablo Mastroeni will hope the new signings deliver an instant turnaround for a team still seeking rhythm and results.
