Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, says the two newly completed bus terminals in Abuja will play a key role in tackling taxi-related crimes, especially the notorious one chance incidents.
Speaking during an inspection of the Mabushi and Kugbo terminals on Tuesday, Wike disclosed that the projects are ready for commissioning by President Bola Tinubu as part of his administration’s second anniversary celebrations.
He explained that the terminals are designed to centralize public transportation in Abuja, cutting off unregistered and rundown vehicles from operating freely on the streets.
“Passengers will no longer wait by the roadside. You go to the terminal where the drivers and vehicles are known. That alone will drastically reduce crime,” Wike said.
The minister commended the quality of the work and emphasized that the projects were being driven by available resources and the full support of President Tinubu, not political sentiment.
He added that the terminals form part of broader plans to sanitize and modernize Abuja’s transport system.
