A palm fruit harvest ended in tragedy on Monday as forty-eight-year-old Ishaya Bako fell to his death from a tree in Kutara village, Abaji Area Council of the FCT.
According to a resident, Dantani Usman, Bako was harvesting palm kernels with his son when the rope tied around his waist snapped mid-climb.
He plummeted and struck his head on a stone below.
His son, in a panic, raced back home to alert the family. They rushed to the farm and found Bako in a pool of blood with a severe head injury.
The villagers quickly placed him on a motorcycle in a desperate attempt to get him to a hospital, but he died on the way. His remains were buried shortly after.
