Aliko Dangote has rejected claims that his refinery cannot meet Nigeria’s fuel needs, insisting the facility supplies far beyond local demand and exports the rest.
In a fiery rebuttal, Dangote accused entrenched interests in the fuel import business of resisting change and misleading Nigerians about supply capacity.
“We are producing enough to meet national needs and more,” a top refinery official stated.
Depot owners, under DAPPMAN, had alleged the refinery was underperforming and straining private marketers. But Dangote officials dismissed the claims as profit-driven propaganda by those who thrived under the old subsidy regime.
With over 100 million litres produced daily and massive fuel reserves, Dangote insists his refinery is key to energy independence.
Amid conflicting consumption figures from regulators, the refinery is turning to technology for real-time transparency.
“This is more than business—it’s a battle for Nigeria’s economic sovereignty,” Dangote declared.
