In a bizarre twist of events on Saturday, an Air Peace aircraft collided with a wandering antelope, killing the animal and grounding the aircraft.
The unexpected incident left the plane stranded, prompting engineers to swiftly assess the damage and commence repairs.
Michael Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, confirmed the occurrence, noting that such rare wildlife encounters can cause operational delays and understandably spark frustration among waiting passengers.
“This explanation is not an excuse,” Achimugu clarified, “Airlines still have a duty to inform and care for their passengers. Refunds and proper communication remain mandatory, and failure to comply can attract sanctions.”
He, however, did not disclose the airport where the unusual encounter occurred.
The incident has stirred discussions around airport wildlife management and passenger rights during unexpected delays.
