A quiet night in Sabon Iddo, Abuja turned tragic when two immigration officers on patrol were shot by a man identified as Pastor Darlington, who allegedly mistook them for armed robbers.
The late-night shooting, which occurred around 10 p.m. over the weekend, left Officers Oyomide Zion and Hakeem Mashood critically injured. A third officer, Uduk James, managed to raise an alarm, triggering an urgent response from the Iddo Police Division.
Both injured officers were rushed to the Nigerian Air Force Base Hospital in Abuja for emergency treatment. Their condition remains undisclosed.
The suspect, known locally as Pastor Darlington, fled the scene immediately after the shooting. Authorities say a full-scale manhunt is underway to locate and apprehend him.
The incident has sparked outrage and confusion in the community, with many questioning how a routine patrol turned into a near-fatal encounter.
Police are urging anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward, as the search intensifies across the Federal Capital Territory.
