Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, a chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party, has slammed the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos as a disgrace and a symbol of national decay.
Speaking before boarding a flight to Singapore, the former governorship candidate described the state of the airport as appalling, citing broken air conditioning, suffocating heat, and disorganized service as clear signs of government neglect.
“This is supposed to be our front door to the world. Instead, it feels like a warning to foreigners not to come in,” Ajadi lamented. “No fans, no cooling system, poor passenger care—this is shameful for a country seeking global respect and investment.”
Ajadi also condemned the loud, malfunctioning baggage carousel and the stalled travelator, describing the terminal as unsafe and unfit for use.
He warned that such failings not only inconvenience travelers but erode Nigeria’s global reputation.
“The airport reflects who we are. If this is the first thing visitors experience, what does it say about our country?” he asked.
Calling for swift action, Ajadi urged President Tinubu, the aviation minister Festus Keyamo, and FAAN to urgently restore order, efficiency, and dignity to Nigeria’s international airports.
