CAN Congratulates Catholic Church, hails Pope Leo XIV’s election

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has extended warm congratulations to the Roman Catholic Church on the election of Pope Leo XIV, describing it as a moment of great joy and hope for the global Christian community.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, CAN President Archbishop Daniel Okoh lauded the new Pontiff’s emergence as a symbol of renewal and a promising chapter for the Catholic Church.

“The emergence of Pope Leo XIV signifies renewal and hope for the Catholic Church.

“CAN is confident that the new Pontiff will advance peace, justice and inclusiveness, continuing the legacy of his predecessors,” Okoh stated.

He expressed CAN’s belief that Pope Leo XIV would bring spiritual leadership that fosters unity, righteousness and global harmony.

“CAN prays that Pope Leo XIV’s pontificate be blessed with wisdom, good health and strength to lead God’s people on the path of righteousness. May God guide and strengthen him in his ministry,” the statement added.

CAN’s message reflects widespread excitement across Christian denominations as the world welcomes a new era in Catholic leadership.
