Two herders have been arrested by local vigilantes for allegedly attempting to sell a stolen ram at the Abaji cattle market in the Federal Capital Territory.

According to Salihu Usman, a member of the vigilante group, the suspects rode into the market on a bike with the ram, unaware that word had already gone round about the missing animal.

“The owner reported to us that his ram was stolen from Bugakwo village in Kwali,” Usman said. “We alerted traders in the market and, by divine coincidence, the suspects showed up with the ram.”

The rightful owner was called in and immediately identified the ram. The suspects were handed over to security operatives in the area.

This marks the second such arrest in recent days at the same market, following a similar case involving a stolen goat.

While police in Abaji confirmed the arrest, the FCT police spokesperson, CSP Josephine Adeh, is yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
