The United States is now offering undocumented immigrants one thousand dollars and a free flight home if they agree to leave voluntarily through a new initiative powered by the CBP Home app.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem says the move is aimed at slashing deportation costs, which can climb as high as seventeen thousand dollars per case.

Under the new plan, migrants who choose to leave on their own will no longer be a top priority for detention.

Since returning to office in January, President Donald Trump has deported one hundred and fifty two thousand people, a lower figure than that recorded under President Biden during the same timeframe.

However, Trump’s administration is aggressively promoting voluntary return as a cheaper and more efficient solution to immigration enforcement.
