The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has raised the alarm over a fake scholarship scheme being peddled in its name by fraudsters.
According to a statement released on Sunday by the Commission’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mrs Seledi Thompson-Wakama, scammers have been sending deceptive emails from nddcregistry@gmail.com, inviting unsuspecting individuals to a fictitious document verification exercise in Lagos.
Mrs Thompson-Wakama made it clear that the NDDC is not behind the messages and has no ties to the fraudulent process.
She urged the public to disregard any communication not originating from the Commission’s official website — www.scholarship.nddc.gov.ng.
She further cautioned against sharing personal information or making any payments to unknown individuals or accounts, stressing that genuine NDDC scholarship announcements and updates are only published through official channels.
The Commission encouraged anyone who has received such messages to report them promptly to law enforcement agencies.
