Terror swept through Bunigari in Yobe State today as suspected Boko Haram fighters launched a brazen early morning attack on a military base, leaving chaos in their wake and forcing residents to flee for safety.

The assault, which took place in Gujba Local Government Area, saw the insurgents unleash heavy gunfire and destroy at least two military vehicles during a fierce exchange.

Eyewitnesses described a scene of fear and confusion as both soldiers and villagers were caught off guard.

Though details on casualties remain sketchy, military sources confirmed that a counter-offensive is already underway to regain control and restore calm.

The attack triggered mass displacement, with terrified residents abandoning their homes and trekking to neighboring communities.

Families were seen carrying meager belongings, uncertain of their next steps as tension continues to grip the region.

Authorities are yet to release an official statement, but the incident serves as another grim reminder of the unrelenting insurgency in Nigeria’s northeast and the vulnerability of both civilians and security forces in conflict zones.
