Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is on a mission to China to push forward crucial water supply projects for Abuja’s satellite towns, his media aide Lere Olayinka has confirmed.

The minister, who made a brief stop in Dubai, is set to engage with executives of the China Geo Engineering Corporation Overseas Construction Group.

The talks are a follow-up to President Bola Tinubu’s 2023 visit to China, which resulted in a memorandum of understanding aimed at enhancing water and electricity infrastructure in the FCT.

Under the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, ₦50 billion has already been approved for potable water projects in Gwagwalada, Kwali, Kuje, and other underserved areas.

Wike’s visit is expected to accelerate the rollout of these projects and strengthen Nigeria’s partnership with China in addressing basic infrastructure needs.

He is scheduled to return to Nigeria next week.
