The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested 23 suspected criminals during a fresh crackdown on hideouts in crime-prone areas across Abuja.
The coordinated raid focused on the Pipeline Market axis in Kubwa, where the suspects were allegedly involved in drug peddling and other unlawful activities that have heightened insecurity in the area.
According to security sources, the arrests followed repeated complaints from residents about rising incidents of theft and attacks by gangs who ambush unsuspecting pedestrians and motorists.
The police recovered several incriminating items during the operation.
The command said the move is part of sustained efforts to dismantle criminal networks and reduce violent crimes in the capital city.
All suspects are currently undergoing screening and interrogation.
Authorities confirmed that anyone found culpable will be prosecuted, while those found innocent will be released after due verification.
