The Federal Capital Territory Administration is set to begin a comprehensive inspection of abattoirs, veterinary clinics and farm infrastructure across Abuja as part of efforts to strengthen the agricultural sector.

The Mandate Secretary of the Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat, Mr Abdullahi Ango, made this known in Abuja after a strategic meeting with directors, project heads and specialised units.

Ango said the upcoming assessment tours across area councils would offer a critical platform to engage directly with farmers, stakeholders and development partners, aiming to fast-track the rollout of key agricultural programmes in the territory.

He added that plans are underway to ensure timely distribution of seeds, fertilisers and farming tools ahead of the rainy season.

The Mandate Secretary, who was recently redeployed from the Youth Development Secretariat, also underscored the need to equip agricultural extension officers with modern tools and training to enhance productivity, while calling for stronger public and private sector collaboration to drive agribusiness investment across the FCT.
