Rising music sensation Divine Uzama, better known as Zerry DL, clinched the Rookie of the Year title at the 17th Headies Awards, adding fresh energy to Nigeria’s vibrant music scene.
The glittering ceremony held on Sunday at the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos drew top stars and industry heavyweights.
Zerry DL, younger brother to hitmaker Shallipopi, edged out strong contenders Taves, Kaestyle, and Llona to secure the coveted honour.
Renowned host Frank Edoho presented the award, which many see as a defining moment in the young artiste’s fast-rising career. With hits like “Back to Back” and “Wet on Me”, Zerry DL continues to impress fans with his unique sound and lyrical flair.
The event featured 31 categories celebrating excellence across genres. Other major winners included Tems, Flavour, Rema, Davido, and Odumodublvck, who scooped the highly anticipated Next Rated Artist award.
