Wizkid, Rema, Tems, Asake Shine in American Music Awards Race

Afrobeats is once again taking center stage as Nigerian music heavyweights Wizkid, Rema, Tems, and Asake score nominations for the 2025 American Music Awards.

The four stars will battle it out in the Favourite Afrobeats Artist category alongside South African Grammy winner Tyla. Introduced in 2022, the category continues to spotlight the growing global dominance of Afrobeats, with Wizkid already making history as the first ever winner.

Leading this year’s pack of nominees is Kendrick Lamar with a massive ten nods, including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year for “GNX” and Song of the Year for “Not Like Us.”

Post Malone follows closely with eight nominations, while Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, and Shaboozey secured seven each.

Music legend Taylor Swift, the most awarded artist in AMAs history, is up for six awards this year.

The 2025 ceremony will bring exciting additions with three new categories: Song of the Year, Album of the Year, and Social Song of the Year.

Superstar Jennifer Lopez will return as host for the first time in a decade and is set to perform.

The AMAs will air live on May 26 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, promising a night of unforgettable moments for fans around the world.
