The Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat of the Federal Capital Territory Administration has set in motion a sweeping assessment of abattoirs, veterinary clinics, and farm infrastructures across the territory.
Mandate Secretary Abdullahi Ango disclosed this in Abuja on Friday after a week-long strategy session with directors, project heads, and specialised units.
Mr Ango explained that the facility tours across area councils would serve as a launchpad for direct engagement with farmers, stakeholders, and development partners, a move expected to fast-track agricultural programmes in the FCT.
He assured that efforts were already in top gear to deliver seeds, fertilisers, and farm equipment to farmers ahead of the rainy season.
Reaffirming his commitment to driving change, Mr Ango called for renewed teamwork and efficiency among staff to meet the secretariat’s goals.
“Our farmers are waiting, and the nation is counting on us. There is no room for delays,” he charged. “We must align with the vision of the Nyesom Wike-led FCT Administration and that of the FCT Minister of State, Dr Mariya Mahmoud. Our actions must clearly reflect the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.”
Mr Ango, who previously served with the Youths Development Secretariat, also highlighted plans to empower agricultural extension workers and strengthen public private partnerships to attract agribusiness investments.
He urged all staff to bring innovation and urgency to the table, noting that service to humanity and the residents of the FCT must remain at the heart of their mission.
