In a major crackdown on narcotics in Northern Nigeria, the Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspects linked to a large shipment of illicit drugs valued at over ninety two thousand dollars.
Muntari Shuaibu and Imrana Rabiu were apprehended during a precise intelligence led sting operation that led to the seizure of six cartons of suspected Tramadol, a widely abused opioid.
Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, confirmed the haul on Thursday, stressing that the operation is part of a wider strategy to dismantle criminal networks and reduce violent crime in the state.
The suspects and seized drugs have been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for further investigation and prosecution.
CP Bakori praised the synergy between security agencies and reaffirmed the command’s resolve to cleanse Kano of drug induced criminality, in line with the directives of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
