Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress, dealing a major blow to the PDP and altering the political landscape of the South-South region.
The defection was made public after a strategic meeting held behind closed doors at the Government House in Asaba.
Oborevwori, who secured the governorship under the PDP in 2023, was warmly welcomed by top APC leaders.
Though the governor has not detailed his reasons, observers see the move as a strategic realignment ahead of the 2027 elections.
His shift signals growing momentum for the APC in a region traditionally dominated by the PDP, and could inspire further political realignments across the country.
