Nigerian social media erupted in criticism on Wednesday as Ihuoma Nneji faced fierce backlash for suing outspoken activist and internet personality VeryDarkMan, despite previously claiming she had no issues with him.
Nneji, once publicly friendly with VDM, filed a lawsuit that quickly sparked outrage among netizens, who accused her of trying to silence a critic through legal channels.
“You sue person and say you do not have issue with the person—no be Yaba psychiatric hospital dem go carry this madam go?” tweeted @Funke_Abisoye, echoing a flood of sarcastic reactions online.
As the internet storm grew, users dredged up Nneji’s personal history, alleging a string of brief marriages.
“How many husband only this anty don marry like this now?” one viral post read.
Others claimed she has a pattern of accusing former partners of extreme behavior after breakups, accusing her of practicing “weaponised feminism.”
While Nneji remained silent, support for VeryDarkMan surged.
His followers hailed him as a truth-teller fighting social media fakery.
Memes and jabs mocking Nneji’s legal move flooded platforms, painting her as inconsistent and opportunistic.
The firestorm highlights how quickly Nigerian digital communities turn on public figures, and how past controversies never stay buried in the internet age.
