A fresh legal spat has erupted between the camp of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and human rights lawyer Femi Falana, with Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, launching a scathing attack on the Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

In a strongly worded statement, Olayinka questioned Falana’s legal relevance and accused him of riding on media popularity rather than landmark courtroom victories.

He challenged the respected lawyer to name the major cases he has won that earned him the SAN title.

“What has Falana contributed to the profession apart from issuing press statements and appearing on television?” Olayinka asked, contrasting Falana’s record with Wike’s, whom he credited for advancing legal education through the establishment of Nigerian Law School campuses in Port Harcourt, Yenagoa, and Bwari.

He also accused Falana of misinforming the public over the Rivers State House of Assembly crisis, alleging that the senior lawyer has misinterpreted key constitutional provisions.

The verbal attack marks a new phase in the political and legal tensions surrounding developments in Rivers State and deepens the rift between two of Nigeria’s most vocal public figures.
