The Minister of Defence, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, has pledged renewed federal commitment to restoring peace in Plateau State following deadly attacks that rocked communities in Bassa Local Government Area.
During a condolence visit to the affected areas, Badaru conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s concern over the bloodshed and assured residents that justice would be served.
He was joined by the Permanent Secretary, Ambassador Gabriel Tanimu Aduda, and received by the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander of Operation Safe Haven, Major General Folusho Oyinlola.
“We must break this cycle of violence,” Badaru told community members, adding that President Tinubu had given a clear directive to track down and prosecute all those responsible.
He emphasized that the federal government is working hand in hand with Plateau State authorities to put in place sustainable solutions aimed at preventing further unrest.
The Minister urged community leaders to support security efforts by sharing intelligence, which he described as a vital tool for tracking the perpetrators and forestalling fresh attacks.
“Though the terrain is vast, with consistent intelligence, community collaboration, and divine help, we will root out the crisis,” he said.
Badaru also called on the grieving communities to remain calm and patient, promising that all hands are on deck to bring lasting peace to Plateau.
The visit comes as renewed violence continues to threaten fragile stability in parts of the Middle Belt, raising national concern over rising insecurity.
