A coalition of 774 Civil Society Organisations has commended President Bola Tinubu, the Minister of Defence, the National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and the nation’s security forces for what it described as “remarkable progress” in the fight against insecurity across Nigeria.
In a statement released Friday, the coalition’s publicity secretary, Michael Chukwuma, claimed that violent crimes and unrest have dropped by ninety percent since the Tinubu administration took charge.
“In just two years, this government has accomplished what previous administrations failed to do in decades,” Chukwuma stated, highlighting restored peace in hotspots such as Kaduna and the Northeast, where farmers now cultivate freely, travellers move without fear, and communities have regained confidence.
He listed the elimination of several notorious bandit commanders and their fighters as a major achievement, naming Halilu Sububu, Ali Kawajo, Dangote Kachallah, Mino Kachallah, and others among those neutralised by security operatives.
He praised the security forces as “patriots who forgo sleep so we may rest in peace,” and accused critics of undermining national progress for selfish reasons, questioning their silence during previous administrations when insecurity reached alarming heights.
Chukwuma called on all Nigerians to support the government’s efforts, stating that “every citizen has a role to play” in sustaining peace.
He urged people to report suspicious activities and foster unity across all divides.
He also appealed to state governors to focus on the welfare of their citizens, especially in troubled areas like Zamfara, where poverty and insecurity still linger.
“Together, we can ensure every road is safe, every farm thrives, and every child dreams without fear,” he said, reaffirming the coalition’s support for the government’s ongoing security reforms.
