Panic gripped the Juvenile Correctional Centre in Oko Erin, Kwara State, on Friday night as nine inmates escaped from custody in a daring jailbreak.

The incident, which occurred around 10pm on April 19, was reported by a staff member, Joseph Issa, and confirmed by security analyst, Zagazola Makama.

Police operatives responded swiftly to the alert and managed to rearrest one of the escapees, a 15-year-old boy identified as Abdul Raman Misa. He has since been returned to the facility.

The hunt for the remaining eight fugitives is ongoing, while authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances that led to the breakout.
