Determined to deliver a peaceful and crime free Easter celebration, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has deployed 3500 officers across the Federal Capital Territory.
The FCT Commandant, Dr Olusola Odumosu, announced the massive security operation on Wednesday, assuring residents of maximum protection across critical infrastructure, worship centres, markets, malls and recreational spots.
According to the command’s spokesperson, Monica Ojobi, elite units including the Counter Terrorism Squad and the Female Strike Force have been assigned to strategic locations, including the Three Arms Zone and major public gathering points.
Odumosu, who vowed to personally lead surveillance patrols, issued a stern warning against acts of vandalism, indiscipline and accidental discharge of weapons.
“We are leaving nothing to chance. The safety of Abuja residents during this festive period is our top priority. Anyone found threatening public peace will be dealt with decisively,” he said.
He also urged the public to remain vigilant, cooperate with security personnel, and promptly report any suspicious activity for swift action.
