The Nigeria Police Force has summoned DSP Aliyu Adejembi and his team to Abuja after a viral video showed them receiving cash from Chinese nationals in Kaduna State.
The video, which surfaced online Tuesday, captured the moment Chinese individuals handed what appeared to be five thousand naira notes to each officer in a line, triggering outrage across social media and raising fresh concerns over integrity in the Force.
The officers, identified as Mobile Policemen on escort duty, reportedly received the money as a gesture of “appreciation” after completing their assignment.
However, public reaction has been swift, with calls for disciplinary action and wider reforms in the police system.
A source at Force headquarters confirmed that the officers were summoned via a Signal dated Tuesday, April 15.
They are to appear in Abuja today, Wednesday, April 16, for questioning and possible disciplinary measures over what has been described as professional and discreditable misconduct.
