As the Easter festivities draw near, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has issued a firm warning to residents to steer clear of roadside trading and other activities that could compromise public safety.

Commissioner of Police, Ajao Saka Adewale, urged Abuja residents to obey traffic laws and avoid trading on the roads, stressing that such practices not only disrupt traffic flow but also endanger lives by increasing the risk of accidents and gridlock.

He cautioned that anyone caught assaulting or obstructing officers, particularly those enforcing traffic regulations, would face the full weight of the law.

“The police are not adversaries; we are partners in progress,” CP Adewale affirmed, calling for public cooperation to ensure the safety and orderliness of the capital city.

The police chief also underscored the importance of adhering to parking rules and obeying road signs, especially in areas with heavy traffic, to facilitate smooth vehicular movement during the festive period.

Reiterating the civic responsibility of all residents, CP Adewale encouraged prompt reporting of traffic violations and suspicious activities through the designated emergency lines, assuring that the police remain committed to safeguarding the FCT.
