The Federal Government has issued a stern warning to procurement officers across its Ministries, Departments and Agencies, declaring its resolve to publicly expose anyone found inflating the cost of contracts.

Through the Bureau of Public Procurement, BPP, the government vowed to end the era of shady dealings between procurement officials and contractors, warning that officers treating the procurement process like political patronage will face consequences.

Speaking at the Bureau Enlightenment Workshop for procurement directors in Abuja, the Director General of the BPP, Dr. Adebowale Adedokun, minced no words as he laid down the government’s tough stance on corruption in contract awards.

Dr. Adedokun further revealed that a new policy is underway to debar contractors with a record of consistent defaults.

He stressed that only transparency and strict compliance with due process will now be tolerated.

“The days of compromising procurement integrity are over.

“Any officer caught manipulating contract costs will be exposed to the public,” he declared.

The move is part of a broader effort by the government to restore credibility and accountability in public procurement, ensuring that value for money is achieved in the execution of government projects.
