The Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory, Ajao Adewale, has issued a sweeping directive to all Divisional Police Officers across Abuja to flush out criminals from their hideouts and restore public confidence in the force.

In a decisive move to tighten security, Commissioner Adewale charged the officers to embark on aggressive, intelligence led operations targeting criminal hotspots within the capital.

The goal, he stressed, is to dismantle networks of armed robbers, kidnappers, and drug traffickers threatening the peace of the territory.

The Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed the development in a statement on Tuesday. She confirmed that the crackdown would include strategic stop and search exercises, sustained patrols, and raids on known criminal enclaves.

“The Command is taking a proactive approach to stay ahead of criminal threats and reinforce public confidence in the Police,” the statement read. Adeh urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate fully with security operatives to ensure the success of the operation.

The Police also called for stronger community involvement, urging parents and guardians to keep a closer watch on their children and wards to prevent them from falling into the trap of crime.

“Proper guidance and supervision are essential to protect young people from harmful influences,” she noted.

Religious leaders, traditional rulers, and community stakeholders were also encouraged to support the police by promptly reporting suspicious activities.

“The FCT Police Command remains fully committed to protecting lives and property,” the statement affirmed, adding that the force will continue to adopt effective strategies to outpace criminal elements in the territory.

For prompt assistance, the Police provided emergency lines and the Complaint Response Unit number, urging the public to make use of them in reporting any suspicious activity.

With this latest directive, the police have signalled a new wave of robust security measures aimed at keeping Abuja safe and secure for all.
