The Lagos State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with cult-related activities, recovering firearms and other items during a swift operation in the Iju area of the state.
Command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the development to journalists in Lagos on Monday, revealing that the arrests followed a distress call about a violent disturbance by suspected cultists at Obawole around 1:30 a.m. on March 28.
Responding promptly, police operatives stormed the scene and apprehended three suspects aged twenty one, twenty seven, and twenty eight, while several others managed to escape.
“A search of the suspects led to the recovery of a para pistol loaded with a live round, a locally improvised revolver, and three cups filled with native soap,” Hundeyin disclosed.
He added that the recovered weapons and items have been registered as evidence, and the suspects are currently assisting investigators with crucial information that could lead to the arrest of their fleeing accomplices.
Hundeyin assured that investigations are ongoing as the police intensify efforts to dismantle cult networks in the state.
