Pascal Gabriel Dozie, the visionary founder of the defunct Diamond Bank Plc and former chairman of MTN Nigeria, has passed away at the age of 85.
Family sources confirmed that Dozie died in the early hours of Tuesday, April 8, 2025, just a day before his 86th birthday, following complications from an age-related illness.
Renowned for his trailblazing role in Nigeria’s banking sector, Dozie established Diamond Bank, which became one of the country’s most innovative financial institutions before its eventual merger with Access Bank.
He served as chairman of the bank before passing the baton to his son, Uzoma Dozie.
Dozie also left an indelible mark in the telecommunications sector as chairman of MTN Nigeria, further cementing his legacy as a titan of industry and national development.
