Another tragedy has struck the Otedola Bridge along the Lagos Ibadan Expressway, as a private vehicle plunged off the bridge early Monday morning, leaving four passengers seriously injured and raising fresh alarm over safety on the notorious route.
Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene as the car lost control and fell from the bridge, trapping all occupants inside.
Passersby and early responders scrambled to rescue the victims before emergency services arrived at the scene.
As of press time, it remains unclear if there were any fatalities, though the injuries sustained by the victims are reported to be severe.
The crash immediately worsened traffic along the busy expressway, with vehicles crawling past the site as curious drivers slowed to catch a glimpse of the mangled car.
This latest accident has reignited public anxiety, coming just days after a devastating explosion at the same location, where a gas laden truck overturned and burst into flames, killing at least six people.
With two serious incidents in quick succession, residents and road safety advocates are calling for urgent measures to address the hazards plaguing the Otedola Bridge corridor.
Authorities have yet to issue an official response, but investigations are underway as emergency teams work to clear the wreckage and determine the cause of the crash.
