The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on Friday inaugurated the Board of Trustees of the prestigious IBB International Golf and Country Club in Lifecamp, Abuja, reaffirming the club’s status as a federal government property.
Dispelling speculations of privatization, Wike made it clear that the issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy in the club’s name does not amount to a transfer of ownership.
He stressed that the club remains firmly under government control.
Charging the newly inaugurated board with the responsibility of steering the club toward greater heights, the minister called for transparency, unity, and accountable leadership.
He warned against the misuse of official documents and emphasized the importance of inclusivity in the club’s affairs.
“This club is a symbol of national pride and must be managed with integrity and openness,” Wike declared, urging the board to uphold its duty to members and the nation at large.
In her acceptance remarks, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, assured the minister and club members of the board’s dedication to preserving the club’s core values.
She pledged that under the new leadership, the IBB Golf Club would not only maintain its tradition of excellence but also serve as a beacon of unity for the nation.
The inauguration marks a renewed chapter for the IBB International Golf and Country Club, with expectations high for the board to reinforce the club’s standing as one of Nigeria’s premier recreational institutions.
